Step 4 - Removing the subframes
Sunday, July 5th, 2008: Now that I had the furniture dollies, I could take the next step and remove the subframes from the car. Other than a few miscellaneous items, they were the only things attached to the bare shell. You can see the front subframe in this photo - it's the grey/rust-colored piece in the lower engine bay:

With the front subframe out of the way, I took a moment to further inspect the chassis. Not concours-quality but not bad overall. A few patch jobs here and there along with some light surface rust.

The rear subframe is out. Notice all the dents in the lower rear valence. More $$$ for the bodyshop.

The front subframe will be replaced with a new one designed to accomodate the R1 engine. Not sure if this rear subframe is usuable though. Lots of corrosion everywhere.
